How long does a UK visitor visa take from India?
The service standard is three weeks from the biometrics appointment. In the April to July peak Indian applications have taken longer, so apply up to three months before travel and do not buy non-refundable flights before the decision.
Is priority service available for visit visas from India?
It is offered at most VFS centres but has been reduced or paused at busy times. The 5-working-day target is not guaranteed; the calculator notes this on visit routes.
When does the clock start?
At the biometrics appointment, not when you pay or submit online. If VFS asks for your passport back or UKVI requests more documents, the clock pauses.
Where do I see the decision?
By email. The passport comes back by courier or collection with a vignette, or you get an eVisa in your UKVI account for routes that no longer issue vignettes.
