Refusal letter decoder: what the paragraphs mean and what to fix

Paste the text of your refusal letter. The decoder matches the paragraph references and the officer's wording against our library of refusal grounds and ranks what applies. Private: nothing leaves your browser.

Questions

Questions about this tool

Is my refusal letter sent anywhere?

No. The decoder runs entirely in your browser on the text you paste. Nothing is uploaded or stored. The WhatsApp message it prepares contains only the paragraph codes and themes, never the letter itself.

What does V 4.2(a) mean on a visitor refusal?

The officer was not satisfied you are a genuine visitor who will leave the UK at the end of the visit. It is the most common ground for Indian applicants and is usually argued from income, ties and travel history rather than from anything you wrote.

Can I appeal a UK visitor visa refusal?

There is no right of appeal for a visitor refusal. Administrative review is not available either. The options are a fresh application that answers every point in the letter, or, rarely, judicial review. A refusal under Part 9 for deception carries a 10-year ban and needs advice before any new application.

How soon can I reapply?

Immediately, unless a ban applies. Reapplying with the same file produces the same refusal; the new application must show what has changed and address each reason in the letter.
