Questions about this tool
Does my salary in India count towards the £29,000?
Not for entry clearance. Only the UK sponsor's income counts, plus cash savings held by either of you for six months. Your Indian income counts only if you hold a confirmed UK job offer starting within three months of arrival.
How much in savings replaces the income requirement?
£88,500 held for six months replaces the whole £29,000: the first £16,000 does not count and the rest is divided by 2.5 for a 2.5-year visa. A smaller shortfall needs £16,000 plus 2.5 times the gap.
My sponsor started a new job three months ago. What applies?
Category B. The current salary must meet the threshold and the total salaried income received in the last 12 months, from any employers, must also reach it. If the last 12 months fall short, cash savings can bridge the gap, or you wait until six months with the employer are complete.
Can savings be combined with self-employment?
No. Appendix FM-SE does not allow cash savings to be combined with self-employment income. Self-employed sponsors need the net profit from the last full financial year, or an average of the last two, to meet the threshold on its own.
