Questions about this tool
How much money do I need to show for a UK student visa from India?
Nine months of living costs (£1,529 a month in London, £1,171 outside, rising on 30 November 2026) plus any first-year tuition not yet paid per your CAS. The amount must sit in the account for 28 consecutive days and the statement must be dated within 31 days of the application.
Can the money be in my parents' account?
Yes, in a parent's or legal guardian's account, with their consent letter and proof of the relationship. Joint accounts and an education loan from a bank regulated by the RBI also count.
What counts as the 28 days?
Every day for 28 days ending on the statement closing date the balance must be at or above the required amount. One dip below, even for an hour, restarts the count.
Does the uplift on 30 November 2026 apply to me?
It applies to applications made on or after that date. If you apply before, the current amounts apply even if your course starts in 2027.
