Questions
Questions about this tool
Will I get 18 months or 24 months on the Graduate visa?
It depends on the date you apply, not the date you started. Applications made on or after 1 January 2027 get 18 months. Anyone finishing a course in 2027 or later, which includes every September 2026 and January 2027 starter from India, gets 18 months. PhD graduates get 36 months.
When is the deadline to apply?
Before your Student permission ends. For a course of 12 months or more that is usually four months after the course end date on your CAS; two months for shorter courses. Check the expiry on your eVisa and apply once the university has reported your completion.
Can I apply from India?
No. The Graduate visa is an in-UK application. If you leave the UK and your Student permission lapses, the route is closed.
Does the health surcharge change with the shorter grant?
Yes. 18 months is charged as 1.5 years at £1,035 a year, £1,552.50, instead of £2,070 for two years.
