What is a CAS and why do universities screen before issuing one?
The Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies is the sponsor's electronic reference for your visa. Every refusal counts against the university's Basic Compliance Assessment, so they screen Indian applicants on funds, progression and credibility before issuing it.
Why does a previous refusal matter so much?
A recent UK refusal, especially on credibility or funds, is the strongest predictor of another one. Universities ask for the letter and a written explanation; many decline a CAS if the refusal is under 12 months old.
What happens in a pre-CAS credibility interview?
A 15 to 30 minute video call: why this course, why this university, module names, total cost and who pays, your plan after the course and why you are not studying in India. Unprepared answers are the main reason offers are withdrawn.
