Priority service for visitor visas reduced at Indian centres

Direct answer

UKVI has cut the number of priority and super priority slots for Standard Visitor applications at VFS centres in India, so the five-working-day service is no longer available on every date. Applicants from Punjab should file at least six weeks before travel and treat priority as a bonus, not a plan.

Priority is bought at the biometric appointment, per applicant, and is non-refundable. With fewer slots, the service sells out for the dates around Indian school holidays and the UK summer, which are exactly the dates visitor families want.

The standard service figure for visitors from India is on the processing-times tracker, updated monthly from UKVI's published figures. Our advice for a wedding or a graduation ceremony is to file as soon as the invitation exists and to buy priority only if the slot is offered.

The fee for priority and super priority sits in the rupee table under this post beside the application fee; neither changes the decision, only the timing.
