eVisa: how Indian visa holders prove status with a share code

Direct answer

A UK visa granted to an Indian applicant is digital: status lives in a UKVI account and is proved with a share code that lasts 90 days. The account must hold the current passport, or a border check fails.

There is no vignette or card for most routes now. The decision email tells the applicant to create or sign in to the UKVI account; the eVisa appears there and the 'view and prove' service generates a share code for an airline, employer or landlord.

The failure the desk sees: a new passport issued after the visa, not updated in the account, so the airline's check at Delhi or Amritsar finds no status. Update the passport in the account before booking.
